Playoffuary 🏈🔥

January has a new nickname, and it fits. Playoffuary is what you’ll hear across broadcasts, podcasts, and national coverage because January belongs to postseason football. College Football Playoff games. NFL playoffs. Every weekend carries weight. Win and advance. Lose and it’s over.

No Mystique. Just Film. 🎥

One of the best moments of this postseason came from Indiana’s head coach after their bowl win over Alabama. He pointed out that his players don’t know anything about Alabama’s “mystique” — they only know what they see on film. That quote cuts straight to the heart of preparation. Logos don’t tackle. History doesn’t defend third down. The only thing that matters each week is the opponent in front of you, not reputations built over decades or games you wish you could replay.

January Doesn’t Care About September 💼

That same truth shows up every year in the NFL playoffs. Teams we’ve grown accustomed to seeing in January are sitting at home, while others are getting hot at exactly the right time. Momentum matters. Health matters. Execution matters. January football has always been the league’s reminder that what you did early only matters if you’re still standing now.

Movement at Every Level

High school football wrapped up with another nationally discussed title matchup, with programs like Corner Canyon and Saint Francis in the conversation. Across the sport, change is constant. Private schools and academies continue to reshape the high school landscape. NIL and the transfer portal have permanently altered college football. The NFL remains the billion-dollar business it’s been for years. At the same time, most high school programs are shifting into offseason mode. Weight rooms reopen. Winter sport athletes balance schedules. Spring sports approach. This is where the true two-sport athlete separates themselves. Coaches notice effort, even when you’re in season for another sport, and this window to do it doesn’t last long.

The Process Is Coming 🧠📓

As routines reset, one reminder matters: don’t stop watching film. The volume may change in the offseason, but film study is a skill like any other — ignore it too long and it gets rusty. Later this month, we’ll be releasing The Process, a new framework designed to help players and coaches stay organized, intentional, and focused on their goals all year long. Details are coming soon, along with social posts and custom options for programs.

Welcome to Playoffuary. Take it in. These games are the payoff — and they’ll be over long before we’re ready to let them go.
